On Aug. 6 at 8:15 a.m. she dropped the first atomic weapon on Hiroshima and later flew on Op. Crossroads. Due to deterioration from storage outdoors, restoration by NASM lasted almost two decades. G-ASGC No one could fail to glance at one of these beauties on the apron in its heyday. That shade of BOAC dark blue looked all the more alluring under lights at night. From a few flights on the VC10, I remember the cabin was quiet in flight, more so towards the front. It was the epitome of comfort and elegance back in the day. G-ALWF RMA Sir John Franklin, the world's oldest surviving Viscount on display at Duxford. It was a pleasure to see this type again, once a common sight with Indian Airlines. They had oval doors, were a bit noisy in flight and great sight on the apron when starting up the four Rolls Royce Dart turboprops. A real classic! BEA operated 77 of the type at its peak. 4771 On display at the JMSDF Naval Air Museum, Kanoya on an autumn day. This P-2J was operated by 7th Kokutai, which was the last of the JMSDF squadrons to fly the Turbo-Neptune. 22383 Restored Zero on display at the JMSDF Naval Air Museum, Kanoya. Parts of this Type 52 were raised from the seabed at Fukiagehama, Kaseda city. T-2707 Newly restored F27 on display at Museum Pusat TNI-AU Dirgantara Mandala. This Troopship served with Skadron Udara 17 VIP from 1976-2000, after which it went to Skadron Udara 2 at Halim Perdanakusuma AFB. T-1301 Shiny restored Hercules on display at Museum Pusat TNI-AU Dirgantara Mandala. This Hercules was purchased in 1960 and flew with Skadron Udara 31 from Halim Perdanakusuma AFB. In 1981 it joined Skadron Udara 32 at Abdul Rachman Saleh AFB. It flew its last flight in 1987 and was installed in the museum in 2018. Newly restored F27-400M Troopship T-2707 is the background.
