N64339 TWA stripped white paint from this airplane during a brief test to see if it made economic sense to shed the weight of the paint while mainting a silver finish. The results were negative. On June 14, 1985, N64339 was hijacked with 145 passengers and 8 crew members on a scheduled flight from Athens to Rome and diverted to Beirut. For 17 days the kidnappers wandered between Beirut, Damascus and Algiers with their hostages, who were gradually released. On June 30, 1985 the remaining 36 passengers and 3 crew members were released in Damascus (mehr von N64339)
D-ABDI Europa Jet L�beck found a new home in 1987 with Pan Am as Clipper Fleetwing as N878UM, from 1992 with Albatross AL as TC-ALB, then Sultan Air as TC-JUH and finally with Air Alfa as TC-ALM. HK-5239 What an awesome take off!! Almost using all the runway 18 blasting off on its way to Cura�ao (TNCC). First time I was able to photograph this one with the new livery, the two times I saw it before it was carrying the 50 years livery of Aerosucre.
