D-ABIS Take off from runway 26L during a storm with heavy wind gusts up to 78kmh from 280°. The old hangar on the North side belongs to former civil part of Berlin-Tegel. This replica at Rostock-Laage Airport is part of an exhibition to remember the young engineer named Hans von Ohain had taken out a patent on using the exhaust from a gas turbine as a means of propulsion. The Heinkel He 178 was the world's first aircraft to fly under turbojet power, and the first practical jet plane, the pioneering example of this type of aircraft. It was a private venture by the German Heinkel company in accordance with director Ernst Heinkel's emphasis on developing technology for high-speed flight and first flew on 27 August 1939 piloted by Erich Warsitz.

Berlin-Tempelhof one year after the closing of this famous city airport. Both runways are crossed. The hangars are used for fashion shows, horse riding competions and other events, but not for aviation.

DM-STA The highlight of a rainy day: After a perfect paint shop in a hangar at Leipzig, this 49 year old prop was presented the first time in the colourscheme of Deutsche Lufthansa. The former Deutsche Lufthansa (GDR) was founded in 1955. The eastern version of DeutscheLufthansa, however, lost a battle in the European Court ofJustice in The Hague in 1963, and was from then on nolonger allowed to use the same name as its West Germancounterpart.
